The Kilroys
(ACG, 1947-1955)
™ and ©1952 Best Syndicated Features, Inc.
The Kilroys (”America’s Funniest Family!”) combined goofy teen humor with the family situation comedy that was increasingly popular in postwar radio and television. Teenage daughter Katie provided innocent romantic hi-jinx, young twins Portia and Jackson squeezed laughs out of wise cracks and ugly-jokes, and older brother Wilbur filled the stock role of swaggering high-school jock, all to the grief of the long-suffering parents and teachers. The title was rounded out with the cloddish blonde-joke humor of “Moronica, Miss Nit-Wit of 1952,” apparently no relation to America’s Funniest Family.
