Plot twists abound in this continuing series that echoes the ambition of Cerebus, by promising the reader fifty issues of continuity. The stories follow the life of Detective John Dixon solving various cases of very graphic crimes set in the 1950s. It plays like an NC–17 version of CSI or Law and Order and leaves the reader hanging and wanting more. Many crimes are resolved right away, while others remain unresolved, but the loose ends are promised to be tied up in the end.
