SHIELD

Sgt. Fury went from the Good War to the Cold War when he signed up to become director of SHIELD, the Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law-Enforcement Division. Now a colonel, Fury commands this high-tech group of secret agents as they try to save the world from the menaces of groups like Hydra, A.I.M., and the Secret Empire.

SHIELD reprints Fury’s early adventures from Strange Tales, shortly after he made his debut in Strange Tales #135. These were Fury’s glory days, filled with futuristic weaponry, trick spy gadgets, robotic decoys and the SHIELD Helicarrier—their headquarters in the sky. The more outrageous of these devices owed much to the James Bond movies which were incredibly popular at the time.
