Marvel Mangaverse: X-Men

    (Marvel, 2002)
™ and ©2002 Marvel Characters, Inc.

As in the regular title, the X-Men are a group of mutants bent on saving the world from their evil-minded brethren. In this universe however, the sorceress Amanda Sefton wants to exact her revenge on the energy demon Magnus, who can only return to Earth in a human host. So when the outcast X-Man Rogue desires human contact, they strike a bargain. Storm’s X-Men want Magnus dead too, just not at the expense of Rogue. An all-out battle ensues when the mercenary Azure (Nightcrawler, Beast and Mystique) defends Sefton.

With art from manga vet Jeff Matsuda, Marvel Comics commits a marketing coup with this reinvention of their most popular characters as seen through an eastern lens. Fans dying to see Wolverine in larger-than-life boots and Colossus as a sumo will rejoice.
