DC used this series as a springboard for introducing and testing new characters on its readers. In addition to introducing such little-known characters as the Green Team and Lady Cop, this series featured introductions of Jack Kirby’s Atlas, special features on Doctor Fate and the Creeper, and spotlighted the return of the New Gods. However the most famous character introduced here was Warlord, who would soon have his own series, and several spinoffs, including Arak Son of Thunder and Claw the Unconquered.
