Texas Rangers in Action

Texas Rangers in Action was a standard Western comic themed around the adventures of lawmen on the Texas-Mexico border during the 1840s to 1870s. Taking a little bit of Zorro, a little bit of the Cisco Kid, and a little bit of “remember the Alamo” folklore, Charlton wove together a satisfactory contribution to the Western genre, which by the 1960s had ossified into a predictable set of formulas and clichés. Ranger Mark Kincaid used his fists and six-guns to handle outlaws, banditos, and corrupt Mexicans of all stripes while keeping the Texas plains safe for ranchers, cattlemen, and their families. Later issues featured another hero, the Man Called Loco.
