Zippy: Nation of Pinheads

Bill Griffith’s counter–culture icon has become so ingrained in the mainstream comic pages that compilations are becoming almost as commonplace as Peanuts collections. Griffith is not constrained by the self–imposed limitations that other comic strips must conform to since Zippy can be anywhere, with anyone, and be accepted without contradicting any established continuity. Griffith can use Zippy and his cast of bizarre friends and hangers–on to pointedly skewer everything from pop culture to politics. Zippy’s humor, which stems from outlandish non sequitur and absurdities, is timeless, even though this volume contains strips from the early 1980s and contains references to Ronald Reagan and Lee Iococa.
