Underworld (DC)

Behind every lighted window in the city, there is a person—with a life full of joys and sorrows—and secrets. The underworld in this series is located within each of us.

This four-issue mini-series tells its stories by looking briefly into many people’s own little underworlds. It ties the different characters’ life stories together by running various lines of action through them: purse snatches, a car chase, and so on. Similar in some ways to Marvel’s Cops: The Job and DC’s Gotham Nights, it uses the city’s police as supporting characters for a series of dramas which focus around a number of residents of the city. To virtually everyone, these residents appear to be “nobodies,” but each nurses a dark side, and lives in an underworld of their own making.
