Roy Crane (1901-1977) created a comedy newspaper strip in 1924 focused on his Wash Tubbs character; after five years, he created Captain Easy as an adventuring counterpoint to Tubbs. By 1933, Easy got a Sunday strip; eventually both strips were taken over by Les Turner (1899-1988). Easy was among many comic-strip characters who had a run in comic books.
