Some years ago, the shadow corporation known as MyS-TECH sent its Warheads force on a “retrieval mission.” Two Warheads troopers were killed on that mission, but the survivors succeeded in bringing back the strange substance known as proto-silicon. Through a project known as Digitek, MyS-TECH began to explore their new find. They discovered that proto-silicon had almost infinite potential, including the ability to mimic brain functions. In many ways, proto-silicon was alive.

Sensing the potential of proto-silicon, MyS-TECH’s competitors at the Miracle corporation introduced a virus into the proto-silicon programming and sent shock troops to storm Digitek, killing everyone there. Everyone, that is, except the project lead, Jonathan Bryant. Fatally wounded, he fell into the proto-silicon matrix, becoming one with it. Thus Jonathan Bryant became Digitek, and the war, involving the cyborg Deathlok, was about to begin.
