Brothers of the Spear

    (Gold Key, 1972-1976, 1982)
™ and ©1973 Western Publishing Company, Inc.

The Brothers of the Spear originally appeared as a backup feature in the classic Tarzan (Dell) series. The two title characters are Dan-El (Daniel) of Aba-Zulu, a white man, and Natongo of Tungelu, a black man. Both are warrior kings who travel through Africa in search of adventure.

Dan-El and Natongo are renowned both for their bravery and for their skill with a spear. Given a choice, they will fight using the blunt ends, but when the need arises, they can strike with deadly accuracy. Unlike so many other action heroes, this pair are not only kings (with armies to command, if they wish), but are also married to equally capable warrior queens.

This series ran from 1972 until 1976, and was revisited for a single new issue in 1982.
