Prey for Us Sinners

Jean Duvalier is remarkably calm and composed as he sits with the detectives and relates the events of the previous evening. Considering the fact that his face in splattered with blood, his tranquility is all the more eerie. His attempt to explain his behavior as a perfectly understandable progression of cravings betrays the obsessive nature of his personality. The detectives let him talk. They’ve heard it all before. Only the faces change.

Artist Omaha Perez, (Raw Periphery), and writer Franz Henkel collaborated on this tautly told story with a strange religious twist. The title is a line from the Hail Mary prayer, which is converted into a pun by changing the word meaning supplication…to the word for victim.
