Coutoo

Created by Andreas, this ambitious story was originally presented in French in 1989, then translated to English and serialized in Cheval Noir #8–11 in 1990. Coutoo is a dark, psychological, tale that revolves around an insane serial killer, a slow-witted boy who seems to see through the eyes of the killer and his victims, and a young detective desperately trying to end the madness.

Lieutenant John Krafft took over the Coutoo case when his father, Carl Krafft, went missing. The case file itself was a riddle, with a mysterious “3021” written on the front, and nothing but loose ends inside. While a psychotic slasher piles up the bodies around the city, John Krafft tries to piece it all together. Meanwhile, a boy named Toby-Toby continues to confess to each murder, reciting details of the crimes that were unknown to all but the police and the killer. The only problem: Toby-Toby wasn’t anywhere near the murders.
