Damien Kane thought he was a fairly normal twenty-three-year-old. Granted, his parents had died in a plane crash before he was old enough to remember them, and he had this strange aching in his bones, but otherwise he was perfectly normal—or so he thought…

Twenty three years after he was born, Daniel discovered his roots. His parents had been nothing more than genetic experiments, and he himself was the last survivor of an experiment involving a strange, mutagenic serum. All the others who had been given the serum had been transformed into monsters by it, their body chemistry spontaneously altering into something unspeakable. Only Daniel’s body possessed the factor which stubbornly refused to mutate.
