Detention Comics, the 1996 one-shot from DC Comics, pits three of the company’s “still in school” heroes (one of which is a teacher, not a student) against their most dangerous foe to date: America’s troubled school system. Going head-to-head against this very real adversary, Robin, Superboy and Guy Gardner: Warrior each star in their own individual stories.

Robin launches the action by taking a look at teenage drug abuse. Delivering an anti-drug message while saving a troubled youth is all in a day’s work for this able sidekick. Next comes Superboy who, after a thought-provoking encounter with a high school guidance counselor, decides that staying in school is important—even for a super-hero. Warrior closes the title out by returning to his alma mater in the hopes of bringing down a group of young metahumans who are terrorizing the student population.
