Catseye Agency

Alien Nation and Blade Runner meet Purina Cat Chow in Catseye Agency—a three issue, black and white mini-series from Rip Off Press. Unfortunately, weaving two of science fiction’s most endeared properties around a weak story is not enough to create quality storytelling. Throw into the mix confusing illustrations and busy inks and you’ve got a book that detracts from the overall sci-fi experience.

In Catseye Agency, Earth of the future has moved forward in terms of technology and backwards in terms of social rights. Aniroids—artificially created beings that look like a human/feline mix—are being used as slaves (perfectly legal as long as humans aren’t the slaves). Enter Keli Lynch—an ex-cop wrongfully imprisoned for a crime she did not commit. Out on parole, Keli uses her reflex enhanced body as a weapon, sold to the highest bidder. But when her next client is an abolitionist looking to bring down the slave trade, the mercenary is a bit reluctant—until she discovers that Senator Blaise, the woman who threw her behind bars, is heading the slave ring. Now Keli must face government forces as well as ultra strong Aniroid assassins, in order to close the book on this corrupt official.
