Capt. Savage and His Leatherneck Raiders

One of the more action-packed war comics of the late 1960s, this series follows the adventures of Captain Simon Savage and his Leatherneck Raiders. (“Leatherneck” is slang for a Marine.)

Savage’s crack team was comprised of colorful members from all different backgrounds and specialties. Prominent among the crew are Lieutenant Benjamin Grimm, Sergeant Yates, and the Indian Little Bear. Ben Grimm is the team’s ace pilot; Little Bear fights with a tomahawk; and everyone else is trained, tough, and patriotic. Together, this group teaches the Nazis that you’d better watch out when you mess with the Marines.
