Toxic Paradise
(Slave Labor, 1999)
™ and ©1999 the respective creators
Ah, Love sweet Love. It’s beautiful, romantic, and everyone’s heart’s desire. In other words, it really sucks! Let’s face it, as much as everyone wants to love and be loved, being in love is never what it’s cracked up to be. Otherwise, no one would be heartbroken, right? Unrequited love and getting dumped by a loved one can cause terrible physical and emotional pain, and even lead to desperate acts such as murder or suicide.
This collection of shorts takes a sometimes graphic look at the paradox of Love, combining humor with realism to reveal the often ugly truth about everyone’s favorite emotion. Contributions come from some of underground comics’ best writers and artists, including Andi Watson (Skeleton Key, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ariel Schrag (Definition, Potential), Bob Supina (Monster Boy Comics), and Jeff Levine (Lust for Life, Destroy All Comics).
