Video Jack

™ and ©1987 Cary Bates and Keith Giffen

Video Jack is a six-issue limited series from Epic Comics. The central character is a teenage boy named Jack Swift. Jack is addicted to television. He lives in a town that once resembled Mayberry, from the old Andy Griffith television show. Lately, the town has caught up with the times. Prostitution, pornography, rape, drugs, and general lawlessness are the order of the day. In response, an old man who practices black magic has taken it upon himself to rid his town of those who have no morals. Jack’s friend is the man’s nephew, and invites Jack to check out the man’s video set-up. Then, in a bizarre mishap of the old man’s magic and the video technology, Jack finds himself cast into an alternate dimension. Or is it his home, somehow changed?

Video Jack is the brainchild of Carry Gates and Keith Giffen (Trencher, Maxx).
