Galactus the Devourer

    (Marvel, 1999-2000)
™ and ©1999 Marvel Characters, Inc.

Whether or not Galactus is the wrath of gods or a random force, he leaves an impression. Where he treads, so too goes the Silver Surfer, this time out with a head full of memories of his role in intergalactic world destruction, and a desire to make amends. But happiness remains elusive for Norrin Radd, despite the efforts of his old love, Alicia Masters.

A gallery showing of Masters’ latest works draws out nearly every hero in New York City, perfect cover for the Mole Man’s plans to start some trouble in order to save his people. But dealing with that villain is nothing considering what just fell from the sky. Suddenly, Earth’s mightiest heroes must deal with the galaxy’s hungriest purple denizen.

Marvel Comics brought a powerhouse team to the story-writer Louise Simonson, artist Jon J. Muth, and artist Bill Sienkiewicz. That might explain how yet another story of Galactus flows smooth from the page, with nary a dull hitch in sight.
