Spider-Man: Redemption
(Marvel, 1996)
™ and ©1996 Marvel Characters, Inc.
In the mid-1990s, Spider-Man’s secret identity was so secret, not even he, much less the readers, knew who he was. Due to the infamous Clone Saga, which professed that the clone of Spider-Man in Amazing Spider-Man #149 wasn’t killed and was, in fact, the real Peter Parker, the distinctiveness of Marvel flagship character became a murky quagmire. Thankfully, this disconcerting state of affairs was eventually undone. But before that was accomplished, Marvel used the situation to deliver even more titles featuring Spider-Man…or someone very much like him.
This title is a sequel of sorts to Spider-Man: The Lost Years, which revealed the events of Ben Reilly’s life while he believed himself to be a surrogate Spider-Man. Reilly has returned to New York seeking to resolve his feelings of falsehood and perhaps achieve some contentment. But Kaine, the first clone of Peter Parker, followed him, determined that Reilly will not know serenity in this life.
