Tim Valour
(Action)
™ and © Action Comics Pty. Ltd.
Tim Valour is, from the evidence, the British spelling of Steve Canyon. The British aviation adventure strip, which appears to date from the late 1940s or 50s, is nearly a stone panel-by-panel swipe of the more famous work of Milton Caniff. Valour’s adventures, presented in 32 black-and-white pages per issue, take him through the exotic lands of Russia and the east. As likely to be foiling the plans of a mad scientist as providing support for a super-secret mission in the South Pacific, Valour and his crew combine classic action with high-tech gadgetry in a formula British author Ian Flemming would later perfect with James Bond. Tim Valour remains an interesting artifact of a lost era of British comics history.
