Night Nurse

December, 1972 marked the start of one of Marvel’s periodic attempts to woo female readers, with the premiere of two new series: The Cat and Night Nurse.

Night Nurse was the story of three women who worked as nurses in Metro General hospital. Redhead Christine Palmer was heir to millions, but preferred to work helping people rather than live the life of a debutante. Similar dreams drove her roommates and co-workers Georgia Jenkins and Linda Carter (the nominal star of this series).

The plots were pure soap opera, with the women constantly falling for distinguished surgeons and mysterious (and handsome) patients. For all the romance and plot twists, the series lasted just four issues. Today, it’s one of Marvel’s great forgotten titles.
