Chirality was the third comic work by popular Japanese animator Satoshi Urushihara. Urushihara had gotten his start working on animations for G.I. Joe, A Real American Hero and The Transformers before going freelance to work on Record of Lodoss War and Crying Freeman. In 1990, he moved into comics with Legend of Lemnear and Plastic Little. Chirality, his third series, is the only one so far to remain purely in comics form.
Plot-wise, Chirality is a bit like Battlestar Galactica “writ small.” Vic, Shiori, Carol, Patty, and Shizumi are searching for the promised land of Gaia while being menaced by robots who seek to destroy them. Various romances between the group develop (particularly between the shapeshifting Shiori and Carol), as well as great personal enmity from Adam, a former partner who now wants them dead.
