Captain N: The Game Master
(Valiant, 1990-1991)
™ and ©1990 Voyager Communications, Inc.
Kevin Keene used to be an average video game-playing kid. Then he was transported by weird tendrils of energy through the Ultimate Warp Zone to a universe that is essentially a video game come to life. There he met and fell in love with the beautiful Princess Lana. Aided by Kid Icarus and Samus, he fights the League of Darkness, headed (no pun intended) by Mother Brain, a huge brain in a jar, and her minions, Uranos and the Eggplant Wizard. Now he is known as Captain N (for Nintendo), the defender of Videoland.
Captain N was one of several comics published by Valiant but licensed from Nintendo in an attempt to attract the video game masses to comics. The art was clean and brightly colored with stories that worked on the premise of clean-cut hero versus bumbling, over-the-top villains.
