Series continues in Thrilling Crime Cases #41
An ode to the day when comics cost 10 cents, heroes were soldiers or police officers and the dirtiest word uttered by a child was “jeepers,” 52-page 4Most comics is a compilation of what editors call “four complete long stories” (independent shorts that range from 10-14 pages). Also scattered throughout the book are four “strips,” usually in the range of one to two pages each.
While the plot for each “long” story changes with every issue, a typical book follows the adventures of Dick Cole (the daring young cadet from Farr Military Academy) and Lem the Grem (the mischievous gremlin with a knack for causing trouble). There’s also Edison Bell (the studious young inventor who always has time for a good deed) and Kit Carter (the All-American boy who serves his country from the halls of Daunton Military Academy). Fan favorite strips include Boitram the Boiglar, Heathcliff the Hobo and Candid Charlie. While most likely considered boring by today’s standards, 4Most represents a time when comic books could truly be referred to as “good clean fun.”
