Nomad (Ltd. Series)

This limited series was the first solo venue for Jack Monroe, born on Pearl Harbor day and orphaned by World War II. As a boy, he was enraptured by the adventures of Captain America, and when the opportunity came up to join a replacement Captain America—his new companion (“Bucky”)—he jumped at the chance. Together, the two replacement super-heroes battled Communism for a short time in the 1950s, but when the Korean Conflict ended, they were placed in suspended animation by the government. When they awakened in the 1980s, it was to a world much changed—and one to which they both had trouble adjusting to. Monroe joined the real (also newly awakened) Captain America as a companion, but soon left to become the vigilante Nomad.

In this, quite bad, limited series, Nomad takes on a wide-ranging, drugs-for-arms scheme, as well as the custody of a prostitute’s baby, which was being used as a pawn in the scheme.
