Rise of Apocalypse

Modern mutant storytelling is incorporated with Egyptian mythology in this four-issue limited series illuminating the origin of En Sabah Nur, or Apocalypse, the world’s first mutant, and a powerful opponent of the X-Men. Born of nobility but abandoned as a freakish babe, Nur lives his days as a slave using his Herculean strength and mutant abilities to build eternal monuments to tyrants who only wish for his death. All the while, Nur is also plotting his own despotic destiny when he will become the ruler of the enslaved masses and stride in the steps of gods.

The book touches on many Egyptian myths and past Marvel characters. It includes a retelling of the first Rama-Tut story from Fantastic Four #19, in an elaborate attempt to rework the storyline into the existing time continuum. Though the series comes off as shallow at times, the story is fast-paced and well complemented by the vibrant, fluid artwork.
