Surge

Surge, a member of the DNAgents, received his own four-issue, full color mini-series in 1984. This series takes Surge on a mission of revenge. His one true love, another DNAgent, was killed by an extremely skilled assassin named Luger. Luger went to jail for his crime but that was not quite the justice that Surge was looking for. Surge gave Luger constant reminders that he was going to receive Surge’s justice once Luger was set free from prison. Fearing that Surge was not joking, Luger broke free from incarceration. The series follows Surge as he spans the globe in pursuit of his lover’s murderer.

The series was written by Mark Evanier, co-creator of the DNAgents, with art by Rick Hoberg. Rick went on to pencil a number of other projects including “Bar Sinister” for Acclaim’s Windjammer line of comics.
