Cybernary
(Image, 1995-1996)
™ and ©1995 Aegist Entertainment, Inc.
Cybernary first appeared as a backup story in Jim Lee’s, Deathblow #1. This second series from Image debuted in November of 1995.
This title is set in a the country of Gamora, an old-time safe haven for smugglers and pirates. Considering its beginnings, it is no wonder that the country grew into the center of the world’s black market for everything from slave girls to drugs to high tech equipment. The most valuable technology of all is Cybernary, a “nympho-droid” who broke free of her programming and has gone renegade.
The series was created by Jim Lee and Brandon Choi. The original series contained brilliant artwork by comics newcomer Nick Manabat, who died of cancer in 1995. Steve Gerber (Howard the Duck, Destroyer Duck) went on to continue Manabat’s vision as writer of the new series.
