The Boss
(ADV Manga, 2004)
™ and © 1996 Lim Jae-Won
I’ve been reading comics for more years than I wanna think about, but this Korean teen-gang action-comedy sets new records for pure, concentrated, macho posturing. It makes Arnold and The Rock look like sissies. Why pick a fight with 10 guys when you can take on 20 at once, instead?
Sang Tae Hyun, a sophomore at Woo Sang High School, is The Man. But he is an easygoing boss who likes peace and enforces a no–bullying rule. When Guk Do Jun returns after being suspended for a year and tries to reestablish his gang, he and Sang Tae are on a collision course. Since Guk Do is being watched by the authorities, he asks his blood brother Chung Ki Na, the boss of Dae-Myung High, to give Sang Tae a lesson for him. After a confused preliminary bout (Sang Tae doesn’t know who the hell Chung Ki is), Sang Tae tells his gang to go home and leaves for Dae-Myung High to take on the whole male student body single-handed. Kreegah! Hoo-hah!
