Back during the Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, Spider-Man was given a new black costume which seemed to give him enhanced powers. It was eventually revealed that the costume was a living entity. When Spider-Man rejected the symbiotic relationship the entity wanted, the spurned costume melded with Peter Parker’s jealous rival Eddie Brock to become the villain known as Venom.

Later, in an attempt to once again reunite with Eddie Brock, the symbiote winds up attached to Brock’s ex-wife, Ann Weying transforming her into She-Venom. Now Brock must team up with Spider-Man in order to save his ex-wife from the symbiote.

The series also features a backup story about Hybrid, an aptly named character that is yet another piece of the symbiote melded with a paraplegic shooting victim.
