Martin Wagner originally drew for his college newspaper, The Daily Texan. Originally a funny animals humor strip, the characters of Hepcats have grown and evolved into serious characters.

The current incarnation of Hepcats centers around Erika, an exotic dancer, and Arnie, her harried boyfriend and sometime club DJ. Through their cartoon world, Wagner confronts difficult issues such as domestic violence, child abuse, and the problems of modern relationships.
