Archer Locke was the greatest scientist of his generation. His was the mind behind the Olympus Starbridge, a tower that stretched 72,000 kilometers into space. Cargo could be affordably transported up the starbridge into space, solving a crucial problem for man as he makes his journey toward the stars. Tragically, in 2025, Locke was caught in an accident during construction of the starbridge, and was critically injured. He survived thanks to an organization called UNICORN: The United Nations Covert Operations and Research Network. They rebuilt him using cyberprosthetics, but Locke put himself in self-imposed exile for seven years rather than be beholden to UNICORN and its director Jacob Kingman Rhee.

Now, however, Locke’s daughter has been kidnapped by a group of post-Luddites led by a lunatic named Tharn. Locke returned to save her, even it if meant playing into the hands of the ambitious Rhee and selling out his dream.
