Something

At first glance, Something appears to be a parody of DC’s Swamp Thing, but that presumption is quickly proved false after reading a couple of pages. The protagonist is a hybrid angel, charged with maintaining an uneasy balance in the eternal war between Good and Evil. Far from being a parody, Something takes itself very seriously; so seriously that it borders on the melodramatic. The gritty depiction of drug addicts and the street gangs that feed on them, combined with demons and an unlikely savior recall similar aspects of Todd McFarlane’s Spawn. The overly stylized figures, bordering on “cartoony,” also evoke a sense of McFarlane’s art.
