Backlash is Marc Slayton, one of the core members of the U.N. troubleshooting team StormWatch. Slayton is a skilled fighter armed with an energy whip, and with the ability to turn incorporeal.

As this solo series begins, he’ll need all his abilities to save the life of his lady love Diane LaSalle. LaSalle had been possessed by a Daemonite, one of the dread elder beings which the WildC.A.T.s were founded to stop. Under Daemonite control, LaSalle was about to destroy StormWatch’s orbital station when Backlash was forced to battle her. He succeeded in forcing the Daemonite out of LaSalle’s body, but in leaving, the Daemonite ripped away part of her mind. Backlash would do anything to save her—even if that meant breaking into an ultra-security prison to enlist a dangerous super-villain’s help.
