Before Star Fleet…there was the Solar Guard! Before Captain James T. Kirk…there was Tom Corbett, Space Cadet!

You are looking at a concept that might have been one of the initial sparks of inspiration that sent Gene Roddenberry a thinkin’—a concept about human space explorers who patrol the local solar system; humans who are members of an inter-planetary alliance whose mission is to maintain the freedom of space and promote peace in the universe. Solarguard.com reports that this concept has its roots stemming from a young persons novel published way back in 1948, entitled Space Cadet, written by Robert Heinlein. From that book the Tom Corbett universe was created, and later developed throughout the 50s for exposure in other media—newspaper strips, radio, television…and comic books!

Eternity Comics brought Tom Corbett back from limbo in the early 90s with this series and bringing with it changes to reflect contemporary moods and tastes: high-tech designs, stylish fashions, a new supporting cast of characters (yep…girl cadets) and all of the above rendered with a slight manga flare.
