Zorro was in many ways, the original “Dark Avenger.” He was a Mexican nobleman who donned a black mask and cape in order to fight oppression by a tyrannical government.

Zorro had long been a staple character of Hollywood, appearing in numerous films and Saturday matinee serials. He also has a long history in comics, with numerous series stretching back to 1949. In this modern adaptation for Topps, he takes on more of a super-heroic aspect, doing battle against and alongside a colorful cast of characters with names such as “Machete,” “Moonstalker,” and “Lady Rawhide.”
