Boy Commandos (2nd Series)

    (DC, 1973)
™ and ©1973 DC Comics

This international group of Nazi-fighting kids originally appeared in 1942’s Detective Comics #64. At that point they were the mascots of a group of adult commandos, but before long the Boy Commandos would be having adventures on their own. Later in 1942, Boy Commandos would be launched as its own series, becoming one of the more popular wartime titles.

Although the premise was decidedly campy, the classic Simon and Kirby series did have a certain charm. In 1973, DC decided to reprise the Golden Age series. Unfortunately, the series that had been so popular with readers during World War II was a failure in the modern era, and lasted just two issues.
