Giggle Comics
(ACG, 1943-1955)
™ and ©1947 Creston Publications Corporation
series numbering continues in Spencer Spook #100
Giggle Comics was a wholesome, amusing, but generally undistinguished funny animal title from the Golden Age, when talking sheep, rabbits, ducks, and dogs were everywhere on the comics racks. Giggle Comics featured a menagerie that included Superkatt, a diaper-clad feline and his barnyard pals; the Duke and the Dope, a dog and pig police team (!); Spencer Spook, a work-a-day ghost in a bowler hat; and Binky, a cocker spaniel pooch who actually interacts with human beings as the family pet. Issues were filled out with other one-shot stories, text page features, and kid-oriented entertainment like search-a-word and connect the dots games.
