U.S. Fighting Air Force
(Superior, 1952-1956)
™ and ©1953 Superior Publishers Limited
Superior Comics began as a publisher that reprinted American comic books for distribution to a Canadian audience. Their later original publications were primarily nonsuper-hero titles, such as Journey into Fear, a gruesome horror title; My Secret, a fairly sordid romance series; and the Lone Rider, a Western offering.
U.S. Fighting Air Force began its twenty-nine-issue run in 1952, during the Korean War, and ran until 1956. The stories were standard—but, in this case, somewhat uninspired—war comics fare and, as the series’ title indicates, featured pilots in harrowing situations. Early issues of the series presented stories set during the Korean War since, of course, that particular conflict was the big news of the day.
Superior Comics ceased publication of its titles in 1956.
