Aurora Comic Scenes

    (Aurora Plastics, 1974)
™ and © Aurora Plastics Corp.

During the 1960s and 70s, Aurora Plastics was the premier dealer in plastic model kits, making kits for everything such as the Universal Monsters to Lost in Space. In 1974, both Marvel and DC licensed many of their most popular super-hero characters, and along with other licensed characters such as The Lone Ranger and Tonto, issued these model kits depicting various action scenes with an accompanying comic book enclosed in the box. The cover of each comic was a pen and ink version of the same scene the kit featured in plastic, and also had a comic story unique to the book. Though originally unsuccessful, the comic books are now highly sought after today.
