How many times have you found yourself lost in the “be anything you want to be” world of the Internet? When was the last time you jumped into a chat room only to log off the computer six hours later? How many relationships have been ruined by one person’s addiction to the World Wide Web? Well, pick up a copy of Vertigo’s User (written by Devin Grayson) to see how comics deal with this controversial subject.

Meg Chancellor is about to discover herself by becoming someone else. With her mother gone (the result of a separation), her father apathetic to the situation and her sister the victim of a sexual assault by a family friend, the “misunderstood” older daughter is driven to the brink of a nervous break down. Enter the anonymous world of the Internet. After a coworker introduces her to a role-playing chat area, Meg is instantly hooked.

However, when she creates a new identity as Sir Guilliame de la Coeur, she discovers being a knight in shining armor may be no better than being a damsel in distress. Strangely enough, her real world problems seem to make their way into cyberspace. By conquering them as a lieutenant in the Allies of Vhydon militia, will Meg find the strength necessary to face them head on in the “real” world?
