In CrossGen Chronicles #1, a pantheon of deities made the decision to distribute their seemingly unlimited power throughout the universe in the form of mystical sigils—marks that bless—or in some cases, curse—their bearers with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal… well, you get the picture, right?

Mystic is set on a world very much like contemporary Earth, but it is a world where magic is part of the population’s everyday lives. The deities of the CrossGen Universe feel it is their duty to shake things up, to make these people who have become so accustomed to magic that they think nothing of it wake up to miracles beyond their understanding. Enter Genevieve and Giselle Villard, sisters who could not be more different: Genevieve has worked all her life, studying mystic rituals and configuring spells, to gain incredible power, take on the spirit of her guild, and become a guild-master. Giselle, on the other hand, has partied and enjoyed a life free of responsibilities. That is about to change. Sibling rivalry is taken to new heights when Giselle gains the power that Genevieve feels was intended for her, and just to add insult to Genevieve’s injury, Giselle doesn’t want the power of the sigil. But that’s too bad: she has it, and she must learn to handle the responsibilities that come with it—which include dealing with the jealous anger of her sister.
