King Comics Presents
(King Comics)
™ and © King Comics
This short-lived anthology series features stories by King Comics president George O. DeLorenzo and others. It is especially notable for the unintentional laugh value of the contents. One of the most popular segments featured the “Lost Angel,” who was in reality Angel Lopez, a rare Hispanic super-hero. Angel fought crime with none other than California DJ Rick Dees, performer of the infamous 70’s dance anthem “Disco Duck” (drawn much more muscular than in real life).
Another regular feature in the series was “Kid Cop Squad,” a group of plucky crime-fighting children, who just happen to be police. This segment was written and drawn by comics professional Dell Barras of Capital and First Comics’ Whisper series. The stories were unclear about where the children’s parents were or why the town’s police chief was not arrested for child endangerment!
