“New Heroic Comics” #41–97

This title began as a super-hero comics before switching formats to concentrate on war stories. But still it was more than just a war comic—this title was about real life heroism. The majority of its stars were the actual soldiers who risked their lives in order save their comrades, or who fought through hardships and injuries to win the day. Just as heroism isn’t limited to combat, New Heroic Comics wasn’t limited to just covering the war. It also featured stories of everyday people who displayed extraordinary courage: running into burning buildings to save trapped people, car crash victims who crawl up the sides of mountains in order to get help…even little children who save their playmates’ lives.

This comic was published during the 1950s, when many parents worried about the effect that comics had on their children. Few parents would have a quarrel with the timeless values that New Heroic Comics extolled.
