Nice computerized coloring was not enough to salvage this unremarkable super-hero title by Dagger Comics. A by-the-numbers story gives us the Mavericks (a.k.a the Good Guys), a group of assorted superhumans led by mysterious leader Matrix. We know he’s mysterious, incidentally, because that’s what the captions continually tell us. This group of ad hoc heroes is pitted against a variety of other superhumans, usually working for some shadowy corporate or pseudo-governmental force. Not terrible stuff, but there’s little here which wasn’t done to death in every Image title published in the early 1990s.
