Based on a concurrent television series with the same premise, this title updates the 1930s cliffhanger science-fiction hero for a contemporary audience. Buck Rogers of the 1930s lived in the 1980s. This Buck Rogers, circa 1979, has traveled through time to the 25th century, where spaceships and his intergalactic struggle against the nefarious Princess Ardala seem more plausible to the current audience. Buck’s girlfriend, Wilma Deering, enjoys an update as well. Rather than a damsel in distress, she’s now a colonel of the Earth Directorate, aiding Buck in his fight against evil.

Buck Rogers himself is still the swashbuckling adventurer he always was; a character who has equal appeal no matter what century he is in.
