Xeno’s Arrow

Found in a cryogenic chamber on the edge of the universe in a wrecked starship, Xeno is the only known being of his species. He was rescued by the Lizards, a race of beings that consider themselves the highest order of culture. In the Intergalactic Zoo of Civilization, Xeno is treated well enough if he can ignore the Lizards’ pomposity and patronizing attitude which seems analogous to Kipling’s Noblesse Oblige. But on the first day in his new quarters after he graduates from the nursery, Xeno meets Clemens, a rodent creature who is a little more cynical about her hosts.

This black and white title has an intriguing plot, humorous secondary characters and simple yet pleasing artwork. Xeno has a football-shaped, featureless head, while the Lizards’ appearance seems to have been inspired by Walt Kelly’s Pogo in Animal Comics and then later in newspaper syndication.
