Legion: Science Police
(DC, 1998)
™ and ©1998 DC Comics
Everyone’s read the fantastic exploits of the Legion of Super-Heroes and their epic battles fighting crime across the universe, but what about their normal-powered counterparts in the Science Patrol corps? What tales to they have to tell? This limited series tells one such story involving Jarik Shadder, a police officer once revered by teammates, now disenchanted and frightened of his position of authority. As the story begins, Shadder is reduced to a mouse of a man capable only of following orders, and the Science Patrol is reduced to mopping up after a new superpowered team. But when he learns the new super-heroes are actually rejuvenated bad guys, Shadder reverts to his “supercop” responsibilities. Plenty of colorful action, cool futuristic backdrops, and visits with a few Legionnaires here and there make this book a fun read.
